Fix Low Volume With AirPods And Android Handsets

One of the common issues faced by people who jump between different platforms - Mac and PC; iOS and Android - is that accessories often don't jump cleanly between them. Especially if they are from Apple.

AirPods are a perfect example. Jumping between Apple only devices seems to work reasonably reliably - however if you jump to Android or PC and back to an Apple platform the AirPods can end up getting very confused and, in some cases at least, the result is that you end up with  very low volume when connected to certain devices.

If its an Apple device there are fixes on Apple's Support website. But if its your Android phone you'll find a bunch of fixes which may or may not work depending on your handset.

There is a guaranteed fix though, which will resolve any volume issue - although it will require re-pairing your AirPods once more.

To resolve the issue you'll need to reset your AirPods. Put them in their case then go to one of your iOS devices and forget them from the Bluetooth menu. That will remove them from all of your Apple devices. On your Android / Windows devices you'll need  to manually unpair them.

Once done open the lid again and without taking the AirPods out, hold the pairing button until it flashes orange and then white. Release the button, close and re-open the lid and then repair with your devices.

Your low volume issue should now be fixed.
