Apple Restores WordPress To App Store After Removal Of Instructions On Purchases

Apple has restored WordPress access to update its app in the App Store after the latter agreed to remove instructions on how to get paid upgrades through its website from the app's help files. This should clear up some of the confusion which news of the ban hammer wielding had garnered.

WordPress doesn't offer any upgrades in its app, but did previously include a reference which Apple took exception too. With a promise of removal coming from the company, Apple has released the latest version of the app, used to manage websites on the wordpress.org and wordpress.com platforms.

It has been a bad week for Apple, what with Epic's ambush attack, which was followed by tales of woe from several App Store developers who feel that their relationship with Apple has turned sour. The App Store is under attack from all directions and the ugly spectre (for Apple anyway) of regulation is just over the horizon.

Finding a compromise was definitely in the company's best interests.

Even though this seems to have ended well, the fact that Apple is able to dictate to developers they can tell customers about options available to them on other platforms seems fundamentally wrong.
