Apple Announces New iPhone SE And Blows Mid-range Smartphone Market Apart

As expected Apple announced the new iPhone SE, a fifth generation of the iPhone 6 introduced back in 2014. Apple says the 4.7" screen size is its most popular offering - not unsurprisingly given the amount of value it is extracting from this design.

Inside the shell Apple has crammed the guts of an iPhone 11, making this a market changing offering in the mid-range. Pricing will be NZ$799 (US$399) which absolutely destroys any reason for buying an Android device at a comparable price point.

Whilst this harks back to an older time when phones had bezels, the promise of several years of updates, plus a reliable and functional biometric system with Apple Pay support, a camera of known quality and Apple's solid build quality; makes this the most important phone of 2020.
