Huawei, Oppo Breathing Down Apple's Neck In Q2 Smartphone Sales

Huawei came within an ace of slipping past Apple and becoming the second biggest smartphone vendor in Q2. Oppo too has a phenomenal quarter posting sales growth far above the 5.5% across the whole market.

This is likely to be the last chance either has to steal that second spot however. Next month we should see what Apple has been cooking up for the new iPhone and sales figures are likely to break all sorts of records for the remainder of the year.

Huawei has its new Mate 10 incoming and based on the improvements it has delivered in previous years this should be its best ever phone, one that can compete directly with the Apple and Samsung without any excuses.

Thirty-eight million sales in quarter is a massive achievement for Huawei, but it doesn't matter how good the Mate 10 turns out to be, I don't see Huawei being this close to Apple in sales for at least another year.
