Here's Android's biggest problem and Google's biggest challenge in just one slide.
This was one of the items presented by Apple at WWDC yesterday. It clearly highlights and then triple underlines the difference between iOS and Android updates.
The numbers are slightly out of date, Google is claiming 10% of users on some form of Nougat at the moment, but given the amount of time the two updates have been available that's hardly something to be proud of.
Apple is right to keep returning to this number. The longer term support which Apple offers on iPhone is a significant differentiator between the two platforms. If there's one very good reason for currently unaligned customers to choose iOS over Android it's the promise for updates for the life of the phone.
Until Google can deliver timely updates to all Android devices running Google Mobile Services it runs the risk of losing the market to Apple.
