F1: Wehrlein Makes A Grand Return

After missing the first two races of the season as a result of injuries sustained in the Race of Champions earlier in the year, Pascal Wehrlein needed to make a blockbuster return to the cockpit in Bahrain.

Thanks to an exceptional qualifying performance, where he comprehensively out qualified new team mate Marcus Ericsson, and a race that almost brought the Sauber home in the points, there's no question he delivered.

With a couple of weeks before the season resumes in Russia, Wehrlein has wiped away all concerns that his seat was under threat from Ferrari protégé Antonio Giovinazzi. That probably wasn't hurt by a wild performance from the Italian in tricky conditions in China last week.

Ultimately Wehrlein's decision to miss the first two races to concentrate on improving fitness seems to have paid off. It looked a risky move after Australia, but if he is able to maintain his Bahrain performance levels then things are looking up for Wehrlein.
