iPhone 7 Home Button Requires Human Contact, Unsurprisingly

iphone 7 home

There are reports that the new Home button design for the iPhone 7 requires skin contact to activate, meaning that those in colder climates are going to need to get gloves with capacitive fingers if they want to unlock their iPhones when the weather is chilly.

I’m not sure why this is a surprise. Ever since we learned  that the physical button would be replaced it has been obvious that the replacement would be some form of capacitive alternative.

Whilst I personally don’t like the haptic nature of the new button, it certainly isn’t a deal breaker nor should it be a surprise (or newsworthy) when it performs as expected.
