Why The Tag-Heuer Smart Watch Won't Succeed

So TAG-Heuer officially outed its Smart watch today and its price tag. At $1,500 it offers not such a great proposition. Titanium case, unique straps and exclusive watch faces do not add up to value.

It's a standard Android Wear platform for five times the price.

Now the offer of a future upgrade to a 'real' mechanical TAG-Heuer watch might seem like an attractive way of sampling a smartwatch but even that seems like the most obscure selling point.

Truthfully I can't see any logical reason for someone to buy one of these things. If you want a Swiss watch, buy one. If you want an Android Wear watch buy one.

Don't try and mix the two though.
