Windows 10 Overtakes All Versions of Mac OS X Combined

Saturday was something of a landmark day for Microsoft's new desktop OS, as its usage outpaced all versions of Mac OS X for the first time since launch, according to StatCounter's metrics. It almost passed Windows XP to become the third most used desktop operating system, although users on the older platform seem to be stubbornly hanging on to what they have.
The figures are somewhat generous to Windows 10 however, being a Saturday it's safe to assume that a number of Windows XP and Mac OS X machines used in business environments wouldn't have been counted.
Nevertheless, as Microsoft heads towards its target of one billion installs each of these little landmarks are victories for its new strategy.
