One of Apple's key iPhone patents may be about to end up in the bin after the US Patent Office declared a preliminary decision to invalidate it.
The patent covers numerous multi touch actions and is often referred to as the Steve Jobs patent.
With the other key iPhone patent for the bounce back feature of scrolling lists invalidated we may well be seeing some progress towards the end of the litigation nonsense that has blighted the industry.
I can't help but wonder if prior knowledge of this decision prompted Apple's settlement with HTC last month?
Hopefully these decisions, added to Apple CEO Tim Cook's stated dislike for litigation will allow the company to get back to innovating, something it has struggled with lately.
