Now Samsung Bests Apple in UK Court

Looks like Britain's judges have a solid understanding of technology patents and how they should be interpreted. After HTC's victory last week invalidated three Apple patents - in the UK at least - Samsung have won their case against Apple around the look of its Galaxy Tab range.

You might recall this is the case where Apple is claiming to have "invented" a flat rectangle with rounded corners.

Fortunately Judge Birss hasn't been drinking the Kool-Aid and dismissed the case saying that "the overall impression is different" and the two devices were unlike to be confused.

While not as big a blow to Apple as its defeat by HTC, the patent itself wasn't dismissed (although its value has been seriously diminished) its left Apple's litigation based business plan in tatters in the UK.

Undoubtedly there will be an appeal but for now Samsung's devices are safe on UK shelves. So, how about a launch date for the Note 10.1?
